Who Am I?

My name is Kathryn Cox, and I'm a Christian freelance writer and former sandwich generation caregiver.

At eight years old, I gave my life to Jesus Christ, and He has been everything to me since. After graduating high school in 1995, I left home to attend Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. After a year and a half, I dropped out and married a wonderful man from Australia whom I met in "Acts" class. Twenty-nine years later (and counting), we are happily married and have two amazing children.

I love God's Word and I long to truly understand the character of the "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." Although this is an impossible journey to complete, I am humbled to share with you what I've learned in my "Who is God?" blog posts. I have no college degree. I am not a Bible scholar. My understanding of Hebrew and Greek (the main original languages of the Bible) is as elementary and basic as it gets. I have no support group of seasoned and educated theologians to ask questions of when I'm confused (which occurs often). What I have discovered are things I've simply stumbled upon via the guidance of Holy Spirit and some pretty flash Bible study websites created by intellectuals for plebeians like myself. I hope what I share on this website will encourage and help you, and maybe make you laugh.

My mother loved humor. Bubbly and friendly, she influenced countless others in her walk with the Lord. In 2017, we moved my mom from Missouri to live with us in Kentucky because of her "mild" dementia that I dismissed as old-age forgetfulness. I had no idea we were in store for a difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease. When I became Mom's caregiver, my children were eleven and six years old. For nearly eight years, I struggled as a sandwich generation caregiver. I made a lot of mistakes and learned a great deal about caregiving while parenting. Check out my secondary blog posts on caring for a loved one for encouragement, tips, and personal stories to help you on your own caregiving journey.
